Samuel Louis Veltri, 83, of Worthington, passed away at 2:49pm, Thursday, April 8, 2021, at the United Hospital Center in Brideport. He was born in Fairmont, June 2, 1937, a son of the late Tony and Mary Allawat Veltri. On January 9, 1960, he married Nancy Jean Lehosit Veltri who survives.

Also surviving are three children; Bruce Veltri and his wife Angela, Fairmont, Elaine Ann Veltri and her husband Robert Magnus, Greenville, SC, and Josh Veltri and his wife Melissa, Farmington, his grandchildren; Kash Veltri, Brandiann Garfold and her husband Glenn, Mary Elizabeth Gaston and her fiancé Josh DeYoung, Antonio Veltri and his wife Tessa, Maria Hulderman and her husband Gary, Miranda, Mikaela, Melaina and Joshua Veltri, his great-grandchildren; Elah and Aspen Garfold, Adilynn and Liam Hulderman, Tyler and Seth Veltri, and several other extended family.
In addition to his parents, Samuel was preceded in death by two sons, Anthony Christopher Veltri and Johnny Joseph Veltri.
Samuel was an entrepreneur who was involved in many businesses over the years including: Sammy’s Inn, Sammy’s Discount Store, The Mill Club, and Superfit. He was proud to have had the first discount store in West Virginia. He was a talented artist and awesome drummer who played for several bands in the 50s and 60s. He attended Mountaineer Boy’s State at the same time as NBA Star, Jerry West and often bragged that they worked on their jump shots together. He was a wonderful athlete and enjoyed hunting, fishing, weightlifting, and watching sports of all kinds. Samuel was a constant jokester and was once an extra in a movie called “Wild Hearts Can’t be Broken” which was filmed in Myrtle Beach, SC. He was a former Moose Lodge member. Samuel deeply loved his grandchildren and was a Catholic by faith. He will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends at the Perine Funeral Home, 1348 S. Pike St., Shinnston, from 4-6pm, Monday. Catholic funeral rites with be held at the funeral home, Tuesday, April 13, with Rev. Vincy Illickal, T.O.R. as celebrant. Interment will be in the Shinnston Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to his wife, Nancy, at the funeral home.
