Dominick Belcastro, 91, of Shinnston died peacefully at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital on November 17, 2020. He was born February 13, 1929 in Bethlehem, WV to the late Frank and Anita (Bartolo) Belcastro. He was a 1947 graduate of Shinnston High School.

He was preceded in death by three brothers- James Belcastro, Joseph Belcastro, and John Belcastro. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mildred Roberts Belcastro of Shinnston and two daughters, Mrs. Christina Arco (Sam) and Mrs. Debra Benedetti (Mark); four grandchildren: Allison Benedetti, Lauren Hager (Josh); Andrea Arco-Mastromichalis (Michael), Lee Arco (Elizabeth); six great- grandchildren: Emma , Oliva, and Luke Hager, Max and Mason Mastromichalis and Cecilia Arco. He is also survived by one brother, Louie Belcastro of Lumberport, WV and several nieces and nephews.
Nick retired from Consolidation Coal Company with 44 years of service, having worked at Owings Mines No. 32 and Robinson Run Mines No. 95. He was one of the first employees hired at Robinson Run after the closure of Owings Mines, and was integral to the railroad construction at Mine 95. In 1967, he was a leader in establishing the UMWA Union Local 1501 in Shinnston, WV having served as its first president. In addition, he served in the Armed Forces during the Korean War.
Nick was as a kind, loving family man and enjoyed traveling with his wife and spending time with his family. He was an avid, skillful outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting since his youth and continued to do so until 2019. He was also a talented wood crafter and enjoyed creating unique sculptures for his family, including his grandchildren. His characteristics of personal responsibility, strong work ethic, and love for the outdoors has been imparted to his family, and his keen sense of humor has distinguished him amongst his family and friends.
He was a member of the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church for several decades, where he steadfastly volunteered in several capacities.

In accordance to his wishes, a private family gravesite ceremony will be held at the Shinnston Memorial Cemetery Saturday, November 21 at 1:30 with Pastor Jeff Dytzel of Shinnston officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, 1201 East Pike Street, Shinnston, WV 26431.
