Boyd Dwight Hayhurst Sr., 81, of Lumberport, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at his home with his family by his side. He was born March 5, 1939, in Lumberport, a son of the late Clarence and Mary Swiger Hayhurst.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Alma Sue Cottrill Hayhurst. Also surviving are his children, Boyd Dwight Hayhurst Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Wallace; John Wesley Hayhurst and his wife Crystal of Clarksburg; Thelma Lou Aley and her husband Wesley of Lumberport; Louis Dale Hayhurst and his best friend Jackie Workman of Lumberport; and Dollie Bock and her husband John Bock Jr. of Joetown; his grandchildren, Kimberly Aley; Rikki Butcher; Daniel Hayhurst; Seneca Hayhurst; Ryan Hayhurst; and Michael Bock; as well as several great-grandchildren; as well as his sisters, Dollie Smith of California; Mary “Patty” Cottrill of Lumberport; and Joann Cottrill and her husband Jack of Lumberport.
In addition to his parents, Boyd was preceded in death by his grandson, Trey Hayhurst; brothers, Clarence Hayhurst Jr.; James “Buster” Hayhurst; “Big John” Hayhurst; and Donald Hayhurst; as well as his sisters, Edith Hayhurst and Ruth Main.
Boyd loved to go fishing, especially trout fishing. He also enjoyed squirrel hunting, word searches and coloring. When watching television, Boyd always liked wrestling and westerns.
The family will receive friends at Perine Funeral Home, 1348 S. Pike St., Shinnston on Monday from 11:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 pm.
