Jerod Lee Matthey, 41, of Salem, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2020, unexpectedly from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was born in Clarksburg, August 18, 1978, a son of Dennis and Pamela Musgrave Matthey of Salem. He is survived by two children, Dalton Lee Matthey and his fiancé, Madi Alexander, his sweet daughter Kaylee Ann Matthey, a granddaughter, Emma Layne, whom he adored; his sister, Heather Kay Matthey and her partner Jason Cunningham, Wallace and his nephew Eli. He is also survived by several aunts and uncles, Billy and Angie Matthey, Deer Walk, WV, June and Mike Fahey, Grass Run, WV, Cheryl Musgrave and Carol and Ross Swiger, all of Davenport, FL; his grandparents, Willie Matthey, Salem and Mary Musgrave, Clarksburg, and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Lola Matthey and his grandfather, Paul Musgrave.

Jerod was a 1996 graduate of Liberty High School and was formerly employed with Huffman Construction as a heavy Equipment operator. He was a member of the Reynoldsville Baptist Church. He was a jack of all trades who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and driving. Jerod had a big heart and if someone ever needed something, he would be there for them. He was a special caretaker for his grandpa Willy.

Pike St., Shinnston, from 4-8pm, Monday, where funeral services will be held at 11am, Tuesday, July 7, with Pastor Jon Hayes officiating. Interment will be on the Matthey Family Farm.
