Stephen F. McCarty Sr., 80, of Lumberport passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family and friends. He was born March 23, 1939 in Harrison County a son of the late Willis Maurice McCarty and Mary Johnson McCarty McDaniel.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Thelma Mae Cottrill McCarty.
Stephen is also survived by his daughter, Robin McCarty; his son, Stephen McCarty, Jr.; his grandsons, Jeffrey and Johnny Workman; and his granddaughter, Jackie Workman; as well as his great-granddaughter, Kaleigh Davenport.
In addition to his parents, Stephen was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda McCarty.
He loved to hunt and fish and anything else outdoors. He enjoyed listening to old country and gospel music. Stephen also enjoyed talking on his CB radio where his handle was “West Virginia Rattlesnake”. He never knew a stranger and would always stop and talk to anyone. He will be sadly missed by his loved ones and friends.
