James Edward Owens, 82, of Wyatt passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2019 at home with his family by his side. He was born October 28, 1936 in Shinnston a son of the late William Harry and Genevieve Goff Owens.

On November 28, 1955 he married the love of his life, Norma Jean “Jeanie” Webb Owens who preceded him in death on July 22, 2019. Only separated by death for six days, the two are now reunited for eternity.
Jim is survived by his loving daughter, Brenda Pletcher and her husband, Merle; his granddaughter, Lori Pletcher; and his great-grandson, Levi, all of Shinnston; also surviving are his nieces, Kathy, Polly, and Pam; and his nephews, Allen, T.J., Kenny, and Fritz; and several great-nieces and nephews; as well as his beloved dogs, Bud and Joe.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Owens and sister-in-law, Imogene; his sisters, Delores Bowman and brother-in-law, Roy; and Sandy Oberacker and brother-in-law, Bill; nephew, Danny; as well as his nieces, Debbie, Karen, and Kelly.
Jim retired from Consol in 1991. He attended Wyatt Union Fellowship Church every Sunday. Jim owned cars and motorcycles of all kinds. He loved to sit on the front porch swing and spend time with the love of his life. Jim also enjoyed riding his Harley until his health wouldn’t allow. The family would like to thank Jim’s caregivers Tracy, Melissa, and Megan as well as Amedisys Hospice for their loving care.
The family will receive friends at Perine Funeral Home, 1348 S. Pike St. Shinnston, on Tuesday from 2-8pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at 11:00 am with Rev. Henry Landis officiating. Interment will follow at the Shinnston Memorial Cemetery.
